APELDOORN, Netherlands, (Feb 16) – World and European champion Jessica Schilder of the Netherlands produced a world-leading 20.49 meters to win the women’s shot put at the Atletiekunie Indoor Special on Friday (13) evening.
The 26-year-old delivered the second-longest throw of her career in the fourth round, following three earlier efforts that already would have secured victory. Schilder opened with 19.16m and followed with two throws of 19.48m before unleashing the winning mark of 20.49m. She concluded her series with 19.85m and 19.34m.
Schilder, the reigning world indoor silver medalist, returned to the same arena where she set the Dutch record and captured the 2025 European indoor title last March.
Fellow Dutch thrower Jorinde Van Klinken, the 2024 European shot put and discus silver medalist, placed second with a best of 18.14m in the third round.
Meanwhile in Sweden, the Aadax Locked-In indoor meeting saw home success from European medalists Fanny Roos and Wictor Petersson on Sunday (15).
Petersson, the 2025 European Indoor silver medalist, opened with a winning throw of 21.38m — his season’s best — in the first round and backed it up with 20.40m and 21.06m in later attempts. The Swede finished ahead of Dutchman Yannick Rolvink, who set a personal best of 19.27m, while Poland’s Szymon Mazur took third with 18.89m.
In the women’s competition, Fanny Roos, the 2021 European indoor silver medalist and 2023 bronze medalist, secured victory with a season’s best of 18.76m. Germany’s Katharina Maisch, a world championships finalist, was runner-up with 18.14m.
