SPANISH TOWN, Jamaica (March 7) – In-form Jamaican sprinter Jonielle Smith extended her promising start to the season after clocking a wind-aided 6.96 seconds (+2.3 m/s) to win the women’s 60 meters at the QWICK Meet 2026 at GC Foster College in Spanish Town on Saturday.
Smith, who formed part of Jamaica’s women’s 4x100m gold medal-winning relay team at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, overcame a modest start before surging through the middle of the race to secure the win. The 30-year-old MVP Track Club athlete is expected to feature prominently for Jamaica at the World Athletics Indoor Championships later this month in Poland.
Dynamic Speed’s Levanya Williams also dipped under seven seconds with 6.99w for second, while Jodean Williams of SprinTec finished third in 7.07w. SprinTec’s Ashanti Moore was fourth in 7.10w.

In the men’s event, Ackeem Blake, the 2024 World Indoor bronze medallist, edged out Kadrian Goldson of SprinTec to claim victory with a 6.46w (+2.5 m/s) run. Both athletes were separated by thousandths of a second, with Goldson, one of the meeting sponsors, registering 6.46w (0.456) for second.
Sandrey Davison of SprinTec took third in 6.49w, followed by Rasheed Foster of Mico in 6.54w, Odaine McPherson (SprinTec) in 6.55w, and Bouwahjgie Nkrumie (Racers Track Club) in 6.58w.
Dynamic Speed’s Ashanie Romine Smith won the men’s Final B in a personal best 6.60 (+1.7 m/s).
The World Athletics Indoor Championships will be held in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland, from March 20–22, 2026.
