TORUŃ, Poland (March 20) – Jordan Anthony captured his first global title on Friday (20), winning the men’s 60 meters at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 26 in Toruń with a world-leading time of 6.41 seconds.
The 20-year-old U.S. champion held off a strong challenge from Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson and former world champion Trayvon Bromell to take gold on the opening day of competition at the Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena. Anthony’s time equals the fourth-fastest performance in history and improves the previous world-leading mark of 6.42 seconds, set by compatriot Bromell in the semifinals.

Thompson, the 2024 Olympic and 2025 World Championships silver medalist over 100m, earned another global runner-up finish with a personal best of 6.45 seconds. Bromell, the 2016 world indoor champion and semifinal leader, matched Thompson’s time but finished a thousandth of a second behind to secure bronze for the United States.
Defending champion Jeremiah Azu of Great Britain narrowly missed the podium, clocking in at 6.46, while Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme took fifth in 6.58. The Netherlands’ Taymir Burnet placed sixth and Jamaica’s Bryan Levell finished seventh after pulling up midway in the race. Belgium’s Simon Verherstraeten did not finish.
