KINGSTON, Jamaica (March 28) – World U20 bronze medalist Shanoya Douglas completed a sensational sprint double at Champs 2026, storming to a record-breaking victory in the Class One girls’ 200 meters on Saturday.
The 18-year-old Holland High School standout powered to 22.36 seconds in a -1.6m/s headwind, erasing the previous championship record of 22.53 set by Brianna Lyston (Hydel High) in 2022 and set a new national U20 record for the half lap event. The performance also improved Douglas’s personal best of 22.58 seconds, achieved earlier this month.

Douglas opened her campaign with a 10.98s win in Wednesday’s 100 meters final and maintained her dominance through the half-lap event. Exploding from the blocks, she surged past Jesena Williams (Vere Technical High) by the curve’s midpoint and never looked back, crossing the line unchallenged and further stamping her authority as Jamaica’s premier high school female sprinter.
The time smashed the Jamaica national record of 22.50 seconds, which was set by Briana Williams when she won the World U20 sprint double in 2018.
Edwin Allen High School athletes Alexxe Henry and Shanique Cassanova claimed silver and bronze, finishing in 23.63 and 24.17, respectively. The win earned Douglas nine points for Holland High and capped an outstanding championship for the Trelawny-based school.
Team points standings updates show that Jamaica College (JC) continues to lead the boys’ standings with 234 points, ahead of defending champion Kingston College with 184 points. Edwin Allen High School leads the girls’ points table with 202.5 pts, ahead of reigning champion Hydel High School with 172.5 pts.
