Day 1 Prefontaine Classic 2026 Results

EUGENE, Oregon (July 3) – The Prefontaine Classic Day 1 results and updates, as USA’s Brandon Miller held off a hard-charging Cooper Lutkenhaus (USA) to win the men’s 800 metres on Friday, as the ninth stop of the Wanda Diamond League season opened with a series of tight finishes and strong marks at Hayward Field.

Highlighted Prefontaine Classic 2026 Winners

Dejanea Oakley of Jamaica won the women’s 400 metres with 49.64, Parker Wolfe took the men’s two miles in a time of 8:10.13, Wilma Nielsen captured the women’s 1,500 metres in a time of 4:05.60, while veteran Sandi Morris prevailed in the women’s pole vault after holding off compatriot and three-time world champion Katie Moon with a clearance of 4.85m and 4.80m. USA’s Valarie Sion won the women’s discus and Ethan Katzberg led the men’s hammer throw, giving the first night of the meet a mixed.

Friday’s opening session was the first half of the 51st Prefontaine Classic, which runs through Saturday at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. The meet is part of the Wanda Diamond League and has long been one of the sport’s signature stops.
