NEW YORK (23 July) — The women’s heptathlon at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships kicks off Thursday in New York with one of the deepest American fields in years — and Erin Marsh enters as one of the favorites.
Marsh, the 2023 Pan American Games champion, carries a personal best of 6,305 points into the competition, a mark she posted in late June at the Stadtwerke Ratingen Mehrkampf-Meeting in Germany, where she finished second behind Swiss world leader Annik Kälin. That score makes her the American leader this season and the 15th best performer in 2026.

A third contender, Allie Jones, 26, hasn’t crossed 6,000 points this season — her 2026 season best stands at 5,199 — but she owns a personal best of 6,367 points, set in 2025.
The heptathlon is a two-day, seven-event competition that combines sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws. It begins with the 100-meter hurdles at 1:16 p.m. ET Thursday at Icahn Stadium in New York. The four-day championships run July 23-26.
