EUGENE, Ore. — Former Florida Gator Grant Holloway stormed to a top-ranked time in the men’s 110m hurdles heats on Monday, setting the scene for an exciting faceoff with the clock in the later rounds at the 2024 U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
The three-time world champion clocked an outstanding 12.92 seconds (0.8 m/s), the fastest time ever recorded in a first round. Holloway’s performance on the swift Hayward Field track improved upon his own previous world lead of 13.03 seconds.

The 2021 Olympic silver medalist is eyeing redemption in Paris after being edged out by Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment in the Tokyo Olympics final.
While Holloway dominated, his competitors also delivered strong performances. Jamal Britt won the fourth heat with a personal best of 13.07 seconds, outpacing world bronze medalist Daniel Roberts, who finished second in 13.14 seconds.
Former Florida State Seminoles star Trey Cunningham, the 2022 world silver medalist, secured his heat victory with a time of 13.12 seconds, positioning himself as the third-fastest qualifier for the semi-finals.
Other notable qualifiers in the men’s 110m hurdles here on Monday included Ja’Qualon Scott of Texas A&M (13.15), Freddie Crittenden (13.16), Dylan Beard (13.19) and Cordell Tinch (13.33), all advancing to the next round in the top 10.
However, as the competition heightens, all eyes will certainly be on Grant Holloway and his pursuit of both Olympic redemption and a potential world record.
The men’s 110m hurdles semi-finals are scheduled for Thursday.
