The following is the order of events schedule for Day 1 at the World Athletics Championships 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Day 1 session begins Friday night, September 12, 2025, ET, which is Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, in Japan.

The opening day's schedule starts with women's and men's 35 Kilometres Race Walk finals for both men and women at 6:30 pm ET for the USA viewers. Live streaming coverage of the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 is available on Peacock and CNBC for a viewers in the United States. Live time and live updates will be available on the World Athletics official website.

Action in the field will begin with the women's Discus Throw qualifying rounds. The men's 100m qualifying races and the mixed 4x400m relay are also slated for the opening session on Day 1.
