Top 2025 Honolulu Marathon Results: Tsegay Weldlibanos and Calli Hauger-Thackery Claim Titles

HONOLULU (14 December) — Eritrea’s Tsegay Weldlibanos and Great Britain’s Calli Hauger-Thackery captured the men’s and women’s titles at the 53rd Honolulu Marathon, held Sunday under wet and humid conditions in Hawaii. The annual race is part of the World Athletics Elite Label Road Race series.

Weldlibanos displayed strong endurance in the final miles to secure victory in 2:13:41, overtaking compatriot and defending champion Yemane Haileselassie, who clocked 2:14:30. Kenyan Patrick Ketter Kiplagat followed in 2:14:56 for third. Eritrea’s Tesfu Tewelde finished fourth with 2:15:44, while his teammate Amanuel Mesel closed out the top five in 2:20:10.

“It was a tough course,” Weldlibanos said after his win. “So I am happy to win here.”

In the women’s race, Hauger-Thackery took command late to claim the title in 2:30:44, distancing herself from Kenya’s Cynthia Limo, who finished second in 2:31:35.

“My only aim for today was to fall back in love with the marathon, finish this race … and get my confidence back,” Hauger-Thackery said. “To do that and win it, I can finish the year happy now.”

She admitted: “I was hurting, but I told myself, ‘You can do anything for three miles.’”

Meanwhile, Bahrain’s Eunice Chumba earned third with 2:35:39. Kenya’s Vibian Chepkurui ran 2:40:49 for fourth, and Japan’s Mio Takinami secured fifth in 2:50:04.
