Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe tops the list of runners with the fastest time in 2025 after clocking 2:02:16 in Berlin earlier this month, while two other men posted sub-2:03 times to follow the 30-year-old in the rankings.
After clocking 2:02:27 in London in April, Sawe, the 2023 Half Marathon World Champion, returned to the road on September 21 to post his world-leading time and improve his season best.

Meanwhile, Jacob Kiplimo, a four-time world champion, owns the second-fastest time this year with 2:02:23. The 25-year-old Ugandan runner first posted 2:03:37 in London on April 27 to improve his personal best and national record before clocking his new PB and country’s best in Chicago in September.
Also breaking the 2:03 barrier this year is John Kipkosgei of Kenya, who clocked 2:02:24 in Valencia, while Tadese Takele of Ethiopia with 2:03:23 and Kenya’s Geofry Kipchumba with 2:03:30 rounded out the top five fastest marathon runners in 2025.
