EUGENE, Oregon (June 22) — World sprint double champion Noah Lyles headlines a list of sprinters set to battle for the title of America’s fastest man as the men’s 100m event makes its entrance on the second day of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials on Saturday.
Lyles, who has been a dominant force in the both the 100m and 200m in recent seasons, will open his title quest on this weekend in heat one, where he will face stiff competition from Kenny Bednarek, Kyree King, and Sam Blaskowski of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Lyles, who boasts a personal best of 9.83 seconds and has already clocked 9.85 secs this season, is expected to set the pace early in the competition.

Other title contenders include Fred Kerley, the reigning Olympic silver medalist, who will race from heat two. Kerley, with a personal best of 9.76 seconds, is one of the favorites to advance to the final.
Meanwhile, 2019 world champion Christian Coleman will start from the fourth heat, bringing his experience and speed to the track. Coleman, who has a personal best of 9.76 seconds, is another strong contender for the title.
The fifth heat will see a showdown between Courtney Lindsey and teenage sprint star Christian Miller. Lindsey, with a personal best of 9.89 seconds, and Miller, who has clocked 9.93 seconds, are both aiming to secure their spots in the semi-finals.
