Jordan Anthony and Doris Lemngole Win The Bowerman 2025 Awards

Jordan Anthony of Arkansas and Doris Lemngole of Alabama were named winners of The Bowerman on Thursday night, December 18, 2025. The awards were announced at the annual USTFCCCA Convention at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

Jordan Anthony Claims Men’s Award

Jordan Anthony won the men’s Bowerman Award after a dominant sprint season that earned him the title of “Fastest Man in Collegiate Track & Field.” The former Arkansas sprinter, who turned professional this past summer, defeated finalists Nathaniel Ezekiel from Baylor and Ja’Kobe Tharp from Auburn.

Anthony completed the 60-meter and 100-meter double at the 2025 NCAA Championships, winning the 60 meters in March at the indoor championships and then storming to victory in the 100 meters at the outdoor championships in Eugene, Oregon, in June.

In May, just weeks before his second NCAA title of the year, Anthony ran 9.75 seconds in the 100 meters with a wind reading of 2.1 meters per second. This performance equaled the second fastest all-conditions time in collegiate history and matched the ninth fastest all-conditions time in world history.

At the outdoor championships in Eugene, Anthony also finished fourth in the 200 meters and anchored Arkansas’s third-place 4×100 relay team.

Anthony becomes the third Arkansas athlete to win the men’s Bowerman Award, joining Jarrion Lawson, who won in 2016, and Jaydon Hibbert, who won in 2023. The award, recognized nationally as the collegiate track & field’s highest individual honor, has been presented annually since 2009, and only three other men’s programs – Florida, Florida State, and Oregon – have had multiple winners.

“It still feels unreal,” Anthony said after winning the prestigious college track and field award. “Who would’ve thought I would be here? A football player winning The Bowerman, that’s crazy.”

Doris Lemngole Takes Women’s Award

Meanwhile, Doris Lemngole won the women’s Bowerman Award after breaking collegiate records in the steeplechase and dominating distance events throughout the year. The Alabama runner from West Pokot County, Kenya, topped finalists Pamela Kosgei from New Mexico and Savannah Sutherland from Michigan.

Lemngole broke the collegiate record in the 3000-meter steeplechase twice during 2025, first running 9:10.13 in April and then lowering the record to 8:58.15 to become the first collegiate athlete to run under nine minutes in the event. Her final time ranks in the top ten performances in world history, and her dominance was clear with winning margins in the steeplechase ranging from 10.53 to 40.77 seconds throughout the year.

She holds five of the top eleven all-time collegiate performances in the steeplechase, including the last three collegiate records.

At the indoor championships, Lemngole won the 5000-meter title in mid-March with a time of 15:05.93, the ninth fastest collegiate performance ever. In early December 2024, she had set a collegiate record of 14:52.57 in the 5000 meters, and she finished second in the 3000 meters at the indoor championships after running 8:41.83, which moved her to fifth on the all-time collegiate list.

Lemngole is the first Alabama athlete to win The Bowerman, making it a historic achievement for the Crimson Tide program. The award extends the Southeastern Conference’s winning streak to seven consecutive years for the women’s honor.

The Bowerman is collegiate track and field’s highest individual award, recognizing the best male and female athletes each year.
