Anna Oeser and Mike Tate secure 2023 Boston Mayor’s Cup XC titles; Top Results

BOSTON, MA (Oct. 23) — Anna Oeser and Mike Tate emerged as the undisputed champions in their respective categories at the 2023 Boston Mayor’s Cup XC on Sunday. Oeser dominated the women’s 5K with a solid time of 16:44, while Tate secured his win in the men’s 8K, clocking in at 23:55.

Battle Road Track Club Takes Team Title

Oeser, a former standout at Boston College and current volunteer assistant coach with the Eagles, was also a key player for the Battle Road Track Club. The club dominated the team scoring, accumulating 20 points.

Holly Rees finished fourth with a time of 17:23, Michelle Vaccaro took seventh place in 18:20, Sarika Temme-Bapat came in eighth at 18:23, and Sydney Clary rounded out the top 11 with a time of 18:40.

The team’s strong performance was further enhanced as some competitors who finished ahead of them were not part of full teams, thus not affecting the team scoring.

Individual Standouts and Their Times

Running unattached, Kenzie Doyle finished second in the women’s 5K with a time of 17:04. Samantha Nadel, another unattached runner, claimed third place, stopping the clock at 17:14.

On the men’s side, Tate’s time of 23:55 was just enough to edge out his London Western Track and Field Club teammate Jeremy Coughler, who finished in 23:58.

Derek Johnson, also running unattached, broke the 24-minute barrier with a time of 23:59.
