Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis and American hurdler Grant Holloway will participate in the Wanda Diamond League season opener in Xiamen, China, on April 26. They join an impressive roster of athletes, including 200m Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo from Botswana and high jump world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh from Ukraine.
Duplantis has previously excelled in Xiamen, having set a pole vault world record of 6.24m during the 2023 season opener. This record was notable as the earliest world record established within a Diamond League season and marked the first of three world records for him in 2024, later achieving heights of 6.25m at the Olympics and 6.26m in Silesia. As a four-time series champion, he aims for a fifth consecutive title in 2025.

Holloway, a standout in the 110m hurdles, also had a successful season in 2024, securing victories in Eugene, Monaco, Silesia, and Zurich, culminating in his first Olympic gold medal in Paris. In an effort to reclaim the title he last won in 2022, Holloway seeks his inaugural victory in Xiamen, having placed third in his only prior participation there in 2023.
The Wanda Diamond League is a premier series in athletics, consisting of 15 prestigious events worldwide. Athletes earn points across 14 series meetings to qualify for the two-day Diamond League Final in Zurich on August 27-28, 2025. This year’s series also serves as an opportunity for athletes to prepare ahead of the World Athletics Championships scheduled in Tokyo in September.
