Olympic sprint double champion and World record holder Usain Bolt says he will open his 2012 season in February and as usual, he will run the 400 metres.

“I always run quarters (400s)before the season and I will be starting in February,” Bolt was quoted as saying by Reuters.

“I think I will run at least two this season.”

Bolt, the IAAF World Male Athlete of the Year defended his 200m world championships title last year and anchored Jamaica to a stunning world record of 37.04 seconds in the 4x100m relay on the final day of track competition.

The 25-year-old did, however, false started in the 100m final and was disqualified with the gold medal going to his fellow countryman and training partner Yohan Blake.

Bolt holds the men’s 100m world record at a blistering 9.58 seconds, set in 2009 when he won the Berlin title. He also owns the 200m world best mark at 19.19secs, set at the same venue.
