Gainesville, Fla. (April 13) - World Athletics Championships 200m champion Noah Lyles is targeting a double win in the men's 100m and 200m Olympic Development races at the 2023 Tom Jones Memorial Invitational this week. The annual event will take place at the Percy Beard Track, hosted by the University of Florida, on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15.

Lyles had an outstanding 2023 indoor season, setting a personal best time of 6.51 seconds in the 60m dash and finishing with three of his top five career-best times. the back-to-back world 200m champion is now hoping to carry this momentum into the outdoor season and begin his campaign with a pair of wins against stiff competition here at the Tom Jones Memorial.

In the 100m race, Lyles will face tough opposition from the Olympic 200m champion and four-time world and Olympic 100m bronze medalist, Andre De Grasse of Canada. De Grasse showcased his speed at the 2023 Pepsi Florida Relays, where he put in a dynamic performance in the 4x100m relay on the same track on April 1. Other competitors in the 100m include Ronnie Baker of the USA, Joseph Fahnbulleh of Liberia, Julian Forte of Jamaica, Eric Harrison of Trinidad and Tobago, Kendall Williams of the USA, and Xie Zhenye, who won a bronze medal with China's 4x100m relay team at the Tokyo Olympics.

The men's 200m Olympic Development race will see Lyles competing against Harrison and Williams, in addition to Nigel Ellis of Jamaica, and Belgium brothers Kevin and Dylan Borlee.
