KINGSTON, Jamaica — The 2025 ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Championships (Boys and Girls Champs 2025) kicked off Tuesday morning at the National Stadium with exciting preliminary heats in the 400-meter events across several age groups.
Several medal contenders, including the likes of Rushaine Richards of St. Jago High School with 48.74 seconds, Marcinho Rose from Kingston College (47.52), and his teammate Tajh-Marques White (47.94), were among the notable qualifiers on the boys’ side.

In the category, Shameika McLean of Foga Road High School (56.79), secured the top qualifying spot in class three, with Jamilia Alves from St. Jago High School and Ashley Wynter of Holmwood Technical following closely with times of 57.02 and 57.11 seconds, respectively.
In class two, Jesena Williams from Vere Technical High dominated with a swift 54.66 seconds, while in class one, Abigail Campbell of Hydel led the pack with a time of 53.94 seconds.
On the boys’ side, Justin McKoy from Calabar High School set the standard in the Class 3 (10-13) 400m with a time of 51.31 seconds. Rajeve Allison, also from Calabar, and Nicholas Jones of Lacovia High School followed closely.
The Boys Class 2 (14-15) 400m saw Rushaine Richards of St. Jago High School lead with 48.74 seconds, while Diwayne Sharpe and Micah Willis, both from Calabar High School, secured the next two fastest times.
