Alachua County, FL: World and Olympic 100m Champ Noah Lyles To Open With Tom Jones Memorial 400m in Gainesville

Alachua County, Florida, Olympic and world champion sprint star Noah Lyles, will race over 400m at the at the Tom Jones Memorial 2025 in Gainesville on Saturday.

World and Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles, the Gainesville, Alachua County, FL, sprint star, will open his 2025 outdoor campaign this weekend with a rare and surprising appearance in the 400m.

In addition to the American 2023 world sprint double champion, the Olympic Development Men’s 400m at the Tom Jones Memorial 2025 meet will feature 200m specialist Erriyon Knighton, as well as 400m talents Elijah Godwin, Matthew Boling, and Trevor Bassitt.

Noah Lyles to Test Endurance?

Lyles, who last contested an open competitive 400m race in 2016, will take on a strong field when he lines up in the Olympic Development Men’s 400m at the Tom Jones Memorial 2025 at Percy Beard Track on Saturday, April 19.

The American sprinter owns a personal best of 47.04 seconds but has improved across the shorter sprints (100m and 200m) since then, and he’s expected to go faster this weekend in Gainesville.

Lyles, 27, who made four indoor appearance over 60m during the winter campaign, will get his outside season underway from Lane 6 in Heat 1 of the 400m against a strong field that features Justin Robinson, Jacory Patterson, Jonathan Jones, and Alonzo Russell from the Bahamas.
