Ethiopians Birtukan Wolde and Lemi Berhanu Hayle Win 2025 RunCzech Prague Marathon

Lemi Berhanu Hayle wins the 2025 RunCzech Prague Marathon

Ethiopian runners Birtukan Wolde and Lemi Berhanu Hayle triumphed at the 2025 RunCzech Prague Marathon, which is recognized as a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race, held in the Czech Republic capital on Sunday, May 4.

Hayle, the 2024 champion and the Boston Marathon in 2016, returned to Prague defend his title on the men's side, posting a time of 2:05:14 after pulling away from his rivals. The Czech Republic's Michal Rezek ran 2:05:15 to take second place and celebrated with his own supporters, while Kenya's Felix Kipkoech rounded out the podium in third place with a time of 2:07:19.

On the women's side, Wolde improved her personal best, clocking 2:20:55 to better her previous lifetime best of 2:21:54, which was set earlier this year in Dubai.

Evaline Chirchir of Kenya ran 2:21:25 for second place, followed by compatriots Pascalia Chepkogei, who ran 2:22:11 for third place, and Vivian Jepkemei Melly, who ran 2:22:25 in fourth.

Meanwhile, American Andrew Colley, who was hoping for a fast time at the 2025 RunCzech Prague Marathon, finished sixth with a new lifetime best of 2:09:46. His previous marathon personal best of 2:11:22 was set at Chicago in 2023.
