The Elite Men’s and Women’s Asics Falmouth Road Race results on Sunday, with Kenyans Hellen Obiri and Wesley Kiptoo picking up the respective victories in Falmouth, MA, on Sunday, 20 August.
In the women’s race, Boston marathon champion Hellen Obiri continued her transition off the track to road running with another victory this weekend, covering the seven-mile course in 35:13. The 33-year-old ran patiently through the opening stages of the race before breaking away to dominate the contest.

“I was thinking maybe I should make my move at four miles,” said Obiri, a two-time world champion and two-time Olympic silver medalist on the track.
“The uphill was terrible for me, but I knew after that it was all downhill and it was an incredible finish.”
Marathon star and national record holder over that distance, Emily Sisson was the first American to cross the line on Sunday in second place, stopping the clock at 35:32, while Kenya’s Cynthia Jerotich rounded out the podium in third, at 35:50.
Sisson tried to stayed with Obiri in the early parts of the race, but the experienced Kenyan runner found another gear and pulled away from her U.S. rival.
“I am always a little bit more nervous racing in the marathon build,” said Sisson. “I feel tired, but it gives me confidence that I can race well. My goal was to get as close to Hellen as I could.”
Meanwhile, the men’s race was dominated by Kenyan runners, including race winner Wesley Kiptoo, who ran unmatched for most to contest en route to posting 31:08.
Kiptoo, who finished fifth in last year’s Asics Falmouth Road Race, just missed breaking the course record by one second, and would have gotten it if he didn’t started his celebrations early.
“I stayed consistent,” said Kiptoo. “The course is kind of up and down and I love that it challenges me.”
John Korir, also of Kenya finished second with 31:34, with third place going to his compatriot Edwin Kurgat in 31:37.
