BROOKLYN, New York — Yenew Alamirew Getahun of Ethiopia set a course and event record to win the men’s race at the 2023 RBC Brooklyn Half-Marathon in New York on Saturday, May 20. Getahun clocked an impressive time of 1:03:05. As a result of his victory, he earned USD $2000 and a $100 bonus for setting the records.
In second place was Juan Luis Barrios of Mexico, who finished with a time of 1:03:07. Lawrence Kipkoech of Kenya secured the third spot on the podium, completing the race in 1:04:51. The women’s race was won by Maggie Montoya of the USA, who crossed the finish line with a time of 1:11:38. Montoya displayed exceptional speed, covering the first 5k in 16:33 and reaching the 10k marker at 33:46. Mia Behm, also from the USA, finished second with a time of 1:12:55. Marie-Ange Brumelot from France secured third place with a time of 1:14:30.
In fourth place was Emily de la Bruyere from France, completing the race in 1:15:42. The fifth position went to Katie Watson from the USA, who finished with a time of 1:15:47.
