Two-time World marathon champion Catherine Ndereba of Kenya will defend her New York Half-Marathon crown against Lornah Kiplagat and Deena Kastor on August 16, organizers announced on Tuesday.

Ndereba, a two-time Olympic marathon runner-up, who seeks her third title in four editions, along with her two highlighted challengers, have combined for three Olympic medals, 12 world championship medals, 11 major marathon titles and eight world records.

The 36-year-old Kastor won an Olympic marathon bronze medal in 2004 and owns the American marathon record.

Meanwhile the 35-year-old Kneyan-born Kiplagat set the half-marathon world record in 2007. Born in Kenya, she now represents the Netherlands.
