Marileidy Paulino, the Olympic and world 400m silver medalist, is set to test her form in the women's 200m event at the 2023 VII Memorial José Antonio Cansino. This World Athletics continental Tour Challenger meeting takes place in Spain today (Wednesday, June 14). If you're eager to catch the action, unfortuntely the organizers will not be streaming it on their YouTube for free, but the meeting starts at 11:00 a.m. ET.

With an impressive track record of dominance so far this season, Paulino aims to secure her 11th victory in finals across all her competing events. Her next challenge awaits her at the Gaeta Huguet Stadium in Castellon, where she will compete in the women's 200m.

Paulino, hailing from the Dominican Republic, approaches today's race with a season best of 22.71 seconds. However, she has shown improvement since then and will strive to get closer to her personal best and national record time of 22.36 seconds.

During the 2023 VII Memorial José Antonio Cansino, Paulino can anticipate stiff competition from Lorène Bazolo of Portugal, a three-time Ibero-American Championships silver medalist, and Ecuador's Anahí Suárez, a two-time South American Championships bronze medalist.

Additionally, home favorite Paula Sevilla of Spain, who boasts the second-fastest time in the field this season at 23.27 seconds, will likely add to the intensity of the race.

While Paulino currently leads the world's top list in the women's 400m dash after she clocked an impressive personal best and national record of 48.98 seconds at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix in May, the 26-year-old athlete now aims to transfer her form to the 200m distance.

This strategic move is part of her ongoing preparations for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Budapest, scheduled for August.

A report from the meet will be available on World-Track at the conclusion of the event.
