U.S. names track and field coaches for Worlds

INDIANAPOLIS — Harvey Glance of Alabama and Chandra Cheeseborough of Tennessee State will coach the U.S. track and field team at the world championships in Berlin next month.

USA Track and Field announced their selection on Monday.

Glance was the men’s sprints and hurdles coach at the Beijing Olympics last summer. He’s in his 11th season heading the men’s track team at Alabama.

A former sprinter, Glance ran the opening leg on the gold medal 400-meter relay team at the ’76 Olympics in Montreal.

Cheeseborough, the women’s track and cross country coach at Tennessee State, won two gold medals in relay events at the ’84 Olympics in Los Angeles. She also served as an assistant coach in Beijing.
